The Manufactured Housing Industry Sees an Opening

It is no secret the real estate market is hot and extremely competitive right now. As seen in The Wall Street Journal, with prices on the rise and limited housing on the market, manufactured housing could help alleviate the U.S. housing affordability crisis facing thousands of Americans.

Dustin Arp, managing partner of Spark Homes LLC went on to say "we have a lot of teachers, first-time home buyers and folks downsizing after retirement. Maybe they used to qualify for site-built housing but no longer do." A new single-family home built on-site sold for an average of $392,000 in 2020, according to government data. New manufactured homes cost $87,000 not including land. New starter homes are scarce, looking at the Census Bureau, only 21% of new site-built homes sold in September 2021 were priced under $300,000, down from 35% of sales just a year earlier.
