KMHI Pushes Back on Community Regulations
KMHI Pushes Back on Community Regulations
In April of 2019, proposed regulation changes were submitted for comment relative to MH Communities. Amongst several items, these regulation changes would have required additional inspections prior to any home being placed in a community. In these proposed changes, the group also removed the grandfathering rule allowing setback leniency for older communities. On Tuesday, June, 25th, 2019 Betty Whittaker and Logan Hanes (KMHI) along with Amie Hacker (Parkplace Homes), Barry Noffsinger (Credit Human), Nathan Smith (Flagship Communities), Erik Pederson (Flagship Communities), Leigh Ann Thacker (Top Shelf Lobby), and Greg Dutton (Frost Brown Todd) met with the Office of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for the Cabinet for Health and Family Services to discuss the industry concerns. After some deliberation, the office promised to revise the proposed regulation changes to retain the grandfathering rule and completely remove the call for additional inspections. KMHI hopes to have an updated copy of the proposal in the coming weeks. This was a great win for the industry.
