MHI Economic Report shows 9,412 New HUD Code Homes Shipped in October
In October 2019, 9,412 new manufactured homes were shipped, an increase of 848 homes or 9.9 percent compared to October 2018, and an increase of 1,387 homes or 17.3 percent compared to September 2019. Compared with the same month last year, shipments of both single-section and multi-section homes were up, 9.2 percent and 10.5 percent, respectively. Total floors shipped in October 2019 were 14,628, an increase of 10.0 percent compared with October 2018. None of the October 2019 shipments were FEMA units.
The seasonally adjusted annual rate (SAAR) of shipments was 98,737 in October 2019, up 1.2 percent compared to the adjusted rate of 97,594 in September 2019. The SAAR corrects for normal seasonal variations and projects annual shipments based on the current monthly total.
The number of plants reporting production in October 2019 was 135 and the number of active corporations was 32, the same number of plants and one fewer corporation than in September 2019.
Cumulative shipments from January through October this year totaled 79,908 homes compared with 82,866 homes for the same ten-month period of 2018, a net decrease of 3.6 percent.
